Oh well that makes all the difference!

I reboot my VPS only when a kernel/library patch requires it. Which is about once per quarter, but let's be generous and say once every two months.

So that's six reboots a year. Let's find out what this will save me over the next decade, shall we?

I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face!

No, wait, my mistake. My calculator actually says six seconds. Over the next decade, this will save me six seconds. I doubt I'll even notice that.

As optimisations go, it's not where I'd be putting engineering effort...

(Disclaimer: I do run Ubuntu. I'm generally very happy with it. However, looking at the changes on the desktop, I may well be looking to drift away from it soon.)
